In this lesson we will study about different literal meanings of the word ‘Qur’an’, the meaning of some famous names of the Qur’an as mentioned in it, the division of the Qur’an i.e Ayat, Ruku, Manzil and Surah, an overview of the characteristics of Makki and Madani chapters of the Qur’an, the attributes of the Qur’an such as truth, guidance and remembrance (zikr), an overview of significance of the Qur’an in comparison to other revealed books, explanation in the light of the Qur’an and Hadith that the Qur’an is a source of guidance for every aspect of life, our morals can be improved by acting upon the Qur’anic teachings with the help of examples,, with reference to the Qur’anic verses and Hadith that recitation of the Qur’an has a “miraculous” effect (tabdeel-eqalb), the completion of deen (religion) in the light of the Qur’an, comment on the eloquence of the Qur’ān that left indelible impact on the Arabs and Ajams.
